The Professional Master’s degree is designed for the student who wishes to expand his or her engineering knowledge, but isn’t interested in pursuing an academic or research career. The degree emphasizes the practical aspects of engineering, combined with management and communication coursework.
Graduates of our program have gone on to work for some of the leading engineering companies in the world, including Schlumberger, National Instruments, Intel, Microsoft and ExxonMobil.
This degree prepares you to be a leader in the engineering profession and provides you with both academic coursework and networking opportunities to expand your career.
Here’s what some of our graduates have said about the program:
“It allows you to learn really useful things that you can put to work right away and that give you an advantage at work.”
“For those of us who did not want a Ph.D., this lets us distinguish ourselves.”
“It was the most fun I’ve had at Rice. The classes are small, the access to professors is great. They want to talk to you about what interests you.” —former Rice undergrad and master’s program graduate.
Program Options: 5th Year Master’s
Rice undergrad students have the opportunity to line their study plans up creating a pathway into our professional master’s degrees which – with good planning – they could finish in a 5th year of studies at Rice, completing their B.S. and their M.S. degrees back-to-back.
EPMP/MBA Coordinated Degree Program
Interested in pursuing a coordinated EPMP/MBA program? Interested applicants have to apply to both programs at the same time to be able to qualify for this opportunity. If you are interested, make sure to submit two separate applications: one to the Jones School of Business and one to the respective engineering program.
